Bistrița Romania International Film Festival, BRIFF, was presented in 16th February in Soho Music Hall. Two special short films were screened here, ending with a concert called the Grass of the Beasts, where there was a lot of dancing.
“We wanted to organize a teaser night for this festival. Let’s watch two special short films together that will move us – because that’s what art means to me – that will touch us in the soul. To inspire us to do things with kindness and love”, actor Daniel Deac, executive director of the festival, explained to Bistrițeanul.ro.
BRIFF – the independent film festival – will be organized in Bistrita, between June 15 and 18.
A handful of young movie buffs want this event to happen. We are talking about Daniel Deac (executive director of the festival), Ionut Suciu (executive manager), Raluca Cătună, Alexandru Rusu (Festival Artistic Designer) and Andrada Moruțan (artistic director). They enjoy the support of the George Coșbuc Municipal Cultural Center and the director Gavril Șarmure. The young people hope to convince some sponsors to join the project by June.
The screenings of two special short films – The last paper and Anecoica – was followed by a special live concert by Iarba Fiarelor.
The BRIFF festival was briefly presented in Soho Music Hall.
“We want to set up outdoor film screenings. At the Schullerwald, at the Dogarilor Tower, at the Jelna Winery and probably also at the Colibita. We’ll see how far we can stretch. We don’t want to turn the event into a shambles. It will be a niche event, for those who enjoy this type of art.
We want to combine some concerts in the event, but also theater performances, because I am a theater actor at heart.
There will be several dozen films, projected over the course of four days, on different themes. In the municipal park – documentary films, in Schullerwald – an evening of horror films…
I really liked the Astra Film Festival when I was a student in Sibiu. I could say that that event inspired me.
